The City Charter established the Council-Manager form of government for Tecumseh. The Mayor and four council members are elected by the citizens of Tecumseh. The City Manager is appointed by the City.

The Tecumseh City Council meets on the first Monday night of each month at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers, 114 N. Broadway.
